Announcing the Stepcraft Alpha Launch Date

Everything you need to know about the upcoming Stepcraft Alpha launch.

We are excited to announce that we are launching Stepcraft Alpha on August 15th! This is a big milestone for us, and we are thrilled to share it with you. We expect that you have a lot of questions, so let's dive right into all there is to know about the Alpha launch.

What is part of the Alpha launch?

As the name suggests, the Alpha launch is the first release of Stepcraft. It includes most of the core mechanics of the game:

• 15 different skills that allow you to gather and craft approximately 500 items.
• Combat, and stats that affect your combat performance (attack, defense, health, crit chance).
• Gear and consumables that you can equip to make your character stronger in combat.
• The Elven race, including our first map, which is the Elven origin region.
• Step tracking based on your pedometer, real-time while you're in the game, and in the background when you're not.
• Step bank which stores your unused steps.
• 15 unique locations on the map, each with their own resources and activities.
• 3 dungeons, each with different enemies and loot.
• Quest system including the first 10 quests from the Elven origin storyline.
• NPC trading of items and resources.
• Achievements system, including a few achievements and titles to get you started.

The following features are on our roadmap but will not be part of the Alpha launch:

• Other races (Dwarves, Orcs, Humans, etc.) and their corresponding starting regions and quest lines.
• Additional maps and regions.
• Action queuing when travelling.
• Class selection and related mechanics.
• Gear and consumables for skills besides combat.
• Free Lootboxes.
• Using smart devices to track your steps.
• Leaderboards and other multiplayer features.
• Other types of quests, including limited time, world quests, and more.

How do I get access to the Alpha launch?

We are offering a limited number of spots for the Alpha launch. There are two ways you can get access.

First, starting August 15th we will grant exclusive access to our Patreon members. Anyone who is currently a member or has previously been a member will get direct access to the Alpha launch. If you want to secure your spot in the Alpha launch, and support the development of Stepcraft in the process, please join our Patreon.

Thereafter, we will also be offering a limited number of spots to anyone who has joined the waitlist. This will happen on a first come, first served basis.

What's next after the Alpha launch?

In the initial few weeks after the launch, we will spend time fixing bugs and polishing the game. We'll likely do some initial balancing of the game as well. We're excited to get your feedback on the game, so please join our Discord community and share your thoughts.

Then, there is a bunch of work to do to expand the world, add features like smart device support and multiplayer, add classes, and much more.

We'll keep you updated on our progress and share a roadmap of what's to come in the future.

❔ What platforms are supported?

Stepcraft will be available for iOS and Android.

❔ Will free Patreon members get access to the Alpha launch?

Free members will get access as part of the waitlist eventually. Paid members will get immediate access as part of the Alpha launch on August 15th.

❔ Do you need to maintain your Patreon membership to keep access to the game once the Alpha launches?

No, if you've been a paid member of the Patreon at any point for any duration of time, you will get immediate access to the Alpha launch.

❔ Do I need to walk outside or can I use a treadmill?

Any step-generating activity counts! Treadmills, indoor walking, hiking, or just walking around your house - Stepcraft tracks all movement.

❔ Are steps tracked when the game is closed?

Yes, we track steps using your phone's pedometer. When you open the game again, we'll credit you with the steps you've taken since you last opened the game.

❔ Do I need an internet connection to play?

You need internet for initial setup and syncing progress, but basic gameplay works offline. Your steps are tracked locally and sync when you're back online.
